Michelle,
Lots of good developments regarding drug data in EMRs that now helps with simplifying and customizing alerts. Definitely helps improve clinical decision support.

There continues to be a lot activity by EMRs in development to get to the market quickly before the dust settles and government funding dries up. Subtle differences between the various EMRs in the ambulatory and specialty marketplace may well determine the difference between winner and losers.

Although drug information is not necessarily a prime mover by customers when selecting an EMR, it is often one of the distinguishing characteristics when a final decision is made. And further, it is one of those areas that results in positive customer feedback and recommendations to colleagues.

Lexicomp is clearly the leader in providing top quality drug data, drug information, drug interaction, drug-allergy checking, pediatric drug information and overall drug databases. Most importantly they are known for providing the best customer during development, including the development of customized APIs.

Now that they have added the novel concept of Black Boxed Warnings into the workflow and have developed webservices, their value proposition is even more compelling.
